Quote of the Day

"When the people clamor to be shielded from reality, when they praise their government for keeping things from them, when they choose to conduct their lives within the limits of whatever fantasy the government supplies, then they are no longer consenting to be governed. They are begging to be ruled."- Michael Ventura

The Truth about Tanning: It's Stupid

Women once cherished the china doll whiteness of their skin. They would go to great lengths to protect their complextion. They wore hats, they carried parasols. Tans were considered a blemish of the skin to be avoided.Today, in a world with a thinning ozone layer, women want to be tan. The fact that tanning actually damages and ages skin doesn't matter. The fact that too much tanning can give you skin cancer doesn't matter. The fact that looking like you were baked in an oven until well done looks ridiculous doesn't matter. Women want to be tan.Ladies, enough with the tanning. A little tan is fine and probably healthy. Exposure to mild sunlight helps your body produce Vitamin D. But frying your skin to a crisp, or painting yourself orange, is just plain stupid. And it looks ridiculous, too. Use some common sense.

"Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force; like fire, a troublesome servant and a fearful master. Never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action."- George Washington
